See Global Entertainment (aka See Virtual Worlds, makers of Planet Michael) and ZQGame (a Chinese MMO maker) have announced that they will be releasing a browser-based multiplayer online (MMO) based on the Total Recall movie and franchise.
The two companies have partnered with Sony Pictures and will be releasing the Total Recall MMO worldwide on August 3, 2012, according to their press release. The game is planned to be a full 3-D release capable of “console-like graphics” through a browser interface. It will be based on a F2P microtransaction model and contain both player vs environment and player vs player (PVE, PVP) content.
The game will be based on a planned remake of the original Arnold Schwarzenegger movie that releases next year.
See Virtual Worlds also holds rights to make games out of Men in Black, War of the Worlds, Waterworld, and other films as well as the Asterix comic.
