Pitchblack Hires Sanya Weathers

According to a PR Newswire news release, Pitchblack Games announced that it has hired Sanya Weathers as its new Director of Community.

Weathers is most famous for her contributions to the Electronic Arts MMO Dark Age of Camelot.  The position will be responsible for building community closeness, bridging communication between developer and player.  This aspect of brand building is growing more important as MMO’s face stiffer competition.  With most of today’s MMO’s taking a standard cookie-cutter structure, a need to engage the player base seems to be equate to success.

Weathers says, “The opportunity to direct community for a PVP MMO at a startup couldn’t be refused. The team at Pitchblack also shares my ideals when it comes to customer communication and service, and I look forward to seeing what we can build together.”

President of Pitchblack Games, Warren Weems agrees on the importance of community.  “Community building is crucial to the success of our game, and we wanted someone with a passion for building relationships. Sanya’s background in social media and tech startups is also uniquely suited to our needs, and we’re excited to have her on board.”

Pitchblack Games is currently developing Prime: Battle of Dominus, and recently announced that progress on the game will most likely lead to a late 2011 launch date.
