MechWarrior Online Is Coming

MechWarrior Online

Piranha Games and InfiniteGame Publishing have announced that they are currently developing MechWarrior Online, an MMO version of the popular console game.  They are giving a tentative release date of “Summer 2012″ (no month) for it.

Little information has been given as of yet, but the news is not exactly a surprise given that the rights to MechWarrior were sold to Piranha Games in 2009 and the IP for the domain was secured by them in 2011.

They have said that the game will be a free to play (F2P) model, will be PC-based, and will monetize through microtransactions.

Players interested in the game can follow it on the MechWarrior Online site and sign up to preserve their chosen pilot name for the game when it releases.  A player’s forum has already begun receiving interest and posts from prospective pilots.
