Nexon created a simplified MapleStory for play as a Facebook game called MapleStory Adventures. The game has attracted over 3 million users while in open beta.
According to Nexon:
Nexon will continue to add new content to MapleStory Adventures’ open beta in coming weeks. There are plans to add new classes, as well as multi-character slots and personal spaces that can be customized to the player’s taste. Nexon also plans for additional language localization that includes Spanish, French, German and Chinese.
This kind of success begs to question: what other MMOs will try to cash in on the Facebook trend and pull some tie-in marketing (and maybe advertisement or freemium bling) through this venue? Can you imagine WoW or LotRO on Facebook?
