Turbine has announced that the European (EU) migration for Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) will end on November 9, 2011. The EU migration service will be disabled and accounts that have not migrated will not be automatically moved because of European privacy laws regarding accounts. Players who have not migrated to the Turbine Global Service by then will likely lose access to their existing accounts and characters because of the server move.
The migration is taking place because of the consolidation of servers and access between Turbine’s U.S. and EU services into the new LOTRO Global Service system. The migration is part of Turbine’s closing out of services through partner Codemasters in Europe.
All current players on the EU service are required to move or possibly lose their accounts as the move to the GS system happens. Players with other games under their Codemaster account will not lose those other games, but should migrate their LOTRO account.
North American players will not be affected by the change.
