Former Industry Veterans Begin New Company

Industry veterans from Electronic Arts, LucasArts, Rainbow Studios and id Software have come together to create a company called Caustic Ideas and a new independent game they’re developing called Intrepid Void.  Now they’re asking for help from the gaming community at large.

The new studio describes itself as, “a new independent studio made up of industry veterans who were sick and tired of the status quo.”

The collection of talent at Caustic Ideas have big ideas for the MMO genre.  Intrepid Void is their project to convey those ideas.  It’s to be an MMO in the civilization-building genre with a focus on galactic domination and massive space battles, pirating, and more.

The developers need funding, however, and have created the Kickstarter Project as a way to raise those funds.  The target is to reach $20,000 by October 27th through donations from the gaming community itself.

You can learn more about the Caustic Ideas studio, the people involved, and see video explaining the basic idea of Intrepid Void at the official CI website.

They’re “industry veterans” from some of the biggest video game companies in the world, companies that must pay well in the good positions, and they can’t club together $20,000 between them?
They clearly don’t have much faith in this project, so why should anyone else?

Totally agree. $20,000 for them shouldn’t be so hard them to by. Maybe it could also be their marketing strategy, they probably don’t need the donations, but rather the publicity for this new idea/company.
