EverQuest II, once thought to be failing due to faltering interest from its fanbase of players, has shown a resurgence since going free to play (F2P), according to developer Sony Online Entertainment.
The game went F2P in early December and saw many players (including this one) return to the game. To the tune of a 40% increase in daily logins and a 300% increase in new players, the company reports.
This has translated to a 200% increase in items sales, so this is not a simple “more players joined because now it’s free” event. It meant significantly more revenue.
Given the strong competition the game faces (thinkg SWTOR and others), these are good numbers.
