The closed beta for EverQuest: Veil of Alaris has begun and applications are now being accepted for players who want to help test the latest expansion in one of the longest-running MMORPG series still running.
Those who fill out an app for the closed beta will be put into a pool of potential candidates and as new slots open, players will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The development team has been expanding the beta quickly.
The EQ team says there are a lot of applicants, but this new system means that it’s easier on both them and applicants, since rather than the previous “windows of opportunity,” players are now just queued up and allowed in as slots open:
Once you sign up, the system places you in a pool of potential beta testers. When the invite stages occur, beta testers will automatically be selected from that pool. We will, however, still be limiting the number of participants during different beta stages—the difference is that now you don’t have to wait for a window of opportunity to sign up. The beta sign-up page will remain open until the beta ends. Once you sign up, you do not need to sign up again.
Special invites are being given to 2011 Vegas Fan Fare attendees who registered at the convention.
