D&D Online To Get Big Changes in 2012

The ailing Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) from Turbine is getting some huge updates in 2012 to rebuild the MMO RPG’s player base.  The game, based on the tabletop classic Dungeons & Dragons, will receive a new map area of Forgotten Realms, Underdark.  This setting will be the largest expansion coming to the game this year.

Along with it, Turbine is adding new content and items for players to celebrate the upcoming sixth anniversary of the game’s going online.

The new map area will come in an expansion titled Menace of the Underdark to release later this year.  The Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular game settings for the tabletop system, will be added to DDO this year, bringing with it the Lloth and minions along with new realms of the Dark Elves.

Turbine is also adding a new player class, the Druid, long missing from DDO.

This is shaping up to be a big year for the online rendition of D&D.
