DCUO Announces New Game Director, Content Update

Rumors swirled for days on the future of Game Director Chris Cao. Today’s Producer’s Letter on the DC Universe Online forums confirmed Cao’s ousting, along with an announcement that Mark Anderson, Art Director of DCUO, would be Cao’s successor. Anderson is also the mastermind behind the DCUO combat system.

The personnel change is a clear sign from Sony that it is committed to making immediate and necessary changes to prevent any more fallout from the nearly month-long blackout on gaming services.

The player base has grumbled for some time about the lack of content in DCUO, and it was growing evident that subscribers have become more skeptical of Sony’s commitment to meaningful and exciting content.

This announcement was a mere paragraph in an otherwise exciting post that featured some snippets of DCUO’s upcoming Game 3 update. Here are some highlights:

Oolong Island Hard Mode Alert
Special Feature Character: Ra’s al Ghul. Take on a mission to defeat one of the most powerful DCU assassins.
Zone Event: Poison Ivy vs. Swamp Thing. A battle that takes over Gotham City, players will be able to participate in repelling Poison Ivy’s underlings and other situational combat missions.

Check out the Producer’s Letter, and reactions to today’s news on the DCUO forum.
