Developers at Dawntide have released news that the game’s beta test will close and beta player accounts will be wiped. This will prepare the planned redesign of the game’s world, which by all accounts appears to be a ground-up affair.

The shutdown will last up to two months. The problem? The game world is largely “empty.”
Beta players have internally complained that the Dawntide game world has little rich content and not much going on outside of its immediate quests and related mobs. Other game mechanics issues, most importantly the character development sandbox’s serious limitations, are also to be addressed.
Consistent responses from beta has lead developers to realize that they need to add much more population (in terms of server-controlled items) to flesh out the world.
