Cryptic Studios has said that gaming site Neverwinter will be going from an online cooperative multiplayer to a full massive multiplayer online (MMO). The change will mean that Neverwinter will morph into a more action-oriented MMOG and the developers hint at it being much like Vindictus, “where combat is controlled by mouse clicks, and where pattern recognition and reflexes are the keys to successfully murdering hordes of monsters.”
Cryptic has been developing Neverwinter for some time, using the same basic engine used in their other popular MMOs, Star Trek Online and Champions Online.
The game, as with their others, will be free to play (F2P) with monetization coming through premium content (C-Store items and consumables).
The changes in Neverwinter mean a delay in release, however, now rescheduled for late 2012 rather than early next year.
