With recent news abuzz that Bioware and Electronic Arts may forego an open beta testing phase for its highly anticipated Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR), critics and gamers alike are concerned that a preview will not be available before the game’s launch.
It was recently announced on the SWTOR community forums, however, that fans will get an opportunity to play SWTOR at the upcoming Comic-Con July 21-24, in San Diego. Bioware would also be featuring a cafeteria of games, setting up booths across the street from Comic-Con at the Hilton Gaslamp, including some new downloadable content from Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3.
More recently, a new post today on the SWTOR community forums included information on playable Flashpoints. One caveat: fans will have to RSVP for a demo session:
As mentioned on Sunday, we’ve got a limited number of play sessions during several nights of Comic-Con to allow for select fans to play through the first hour of either the Esseles or Black Talon Flashpoints.
Two sessions will be held each night, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (July 21-23), one at 7PM, and one at 8PM. Each session will accommodate several groups of players for each Flashpoint. If you’re going to be in San Diego next week, and you wish to RSVP for a chance to play, please follow the directions below exactly and in their entirety.
Photo ID will be required for entry. Please note that incomplete RSVP emails WILL NOT be considered for invites. We cannot guarantee your first choice of play time or Flashpoint.
Non-flashpoint demo sessions will not require an RSVP.
